I just learned of Art Ollie's passing. I'm saddened by the news. Art was a friend of our family for many years. We all admired him. He checked off all the boxes of a great citizen: honorable, intelligent and steady. During the 72nd Iowa General Assembly I served as a House page while Art was a state rep. I would often hitch a ride back from Des Moines and Art would usually have an inspiring lecture on his car's cassette player. Art was a mentor to all--including my mother, who was elected to the same state rep seat he held. My condolences to all of Art's family. Joyce, Eric and Jeff, I'm so sorry. I'll carry my many memories of him with me.
I served in the Iowa House of Representatives with Art Ollie for six terms. He was one of my mentors. There has never been a legislator who was a stronger advocate for public education than Art Ollie. He was a good friend, a strong leader, and will always rightfully be The Honorable Art Ollie.
Art was a great guy, I had the pleasure of working with him on the board of Habitat for Humanity or will be a person who is greatly missed condolences to the family
