Bruce Allen Stremlow's Obituary
Bruce Allen Stremlow, 56, of Clinton, Iowa, died Saturday, February 9, 2019 after a long hard battle with Sarcoma (a rare form of cancer) at his home.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be at held at 12pm Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Church of the Open Door, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 10AM until the service hour at the church. Lunch will follow the services at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.

Bruce was known as a loving husband, father, Bampa, brother, uncle and friend. Bruce had a smile and laugh that was contagious. He had an amazing sense of humor that was present even throughout his tough fight. He was born September 30, 1962 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Roy and Betty (Kopenga) Stremlow. He was the youngest of the family. Siblings include Mark (Janet) Stremlow of Sabula, Terri (Kenny) Cannon of Ogallala Nebraska and Jody(Greg) hardy of Clinton. As a child Bruce moved to Idaho with his mother and step father Mason Stanhope where he graduated from Shelley High School. He returned to Clinton to spend time with his brother and sisters. Bruce spent time at Honeywell field as an umpire. His love of the game of baseball helped many kids learn the game. While there he met the love of his life Sue. He fell in love with her and Steve and Chelsea. They were married on Jan 3 1986 and spent 33 amazing years in love. Bruce worked at Rock Tenn/WestRock for 30 years. He truly loved his RockTenn family. Bruce loved playing and watching sports. He was especially proud of his little league days when he participated in the little league World Series and pitched a no hitter. He loved the Hawkeyes Cowboys and the Tarheels. He was a basketball referee and met many great people while doing so. He enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews and grandkids play various sports. You could always hear his voice while on the field, court, or audience. Bruce loved to watch movies and trout fish with his grandkids. He and Sue spent many weekends camping in their camper. They especially enjoyed spending time in Hampton. Bruce was a strong believer in his faith. He will be remembered for his love, laughter, and his encouraging words.
Bruce is survived by his wife Sue of Clinton; 2 children Chelsea (Chuck) Murdock and Steve Lehmkuhl both of Camanche. Grandchildren Jasmine, Sydney, Kaleb, Maddox, and Mia. A brother Mark (Janet )Stremlow, sister Terri (Kenny) Cannon and Jody (Greg) Hardy. Many nieces and nephews and his best friend( like a brother) Dave Lockhart Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather. Memorials may be made to the family for a charity of their choosing.
