Brenda J. Barwick's Obituary
Brenda Joyce Smith, 79, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time at the funeral home. Brenda was born on January 6, 1947, in Jasper, Alabama to Gilbert and Annie Louise (Schultz) Smith. She later built a life centered around love, faith, and family.On July 30, 1968, Brenda married the love of her life, Jesse Barwick, in Illinois. Together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with laughter, devotion, and lasting memories until Jesse’s passing on November 29, 2020. Their love and partnership were an example to everyone who knew them.
Brenda dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. As a homemaker, she poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home where family always came first. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found great joy attending church and singing in worship.
She was a talented and creative woman who loved sewing, crocheting, gardening, and canning. Brenda took pride in making things with her hands and sharing them with the people she loved. She also had a special fondness for cats and always enjoyed the quiet comfort they brought to her home.
More than anything, Brenda treasured time spent with her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the moments spent together were the greatest joy of her life. Her love, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
She is survived by her three children: Sherry (David Beck) Brown of Winnebago, Illinois; Rick (Nancee) Malone of Camanche, Iowa; and Vicki (Andy) Josund of Clinton, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Aaron, Ashley, Katee, Tyler, Jacqueline, Jamie, and Corey; and six great-grandchildren: Timber, Serenity, Gaia, Buffy, Levi, and Atlas.Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Jesse; her grandson, Matthew; and her brother, Gary Smith.
Brenda’s love for her family and the life she built will live on in the many hearts she touched.
