Betty Jane Lingle was born April 7, 1926 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of George and Nellie (Davis) Lingle. She married Robert L. Mull on March 16, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa; he preceded her in death on May 7, 1994. She later married John David Hunt on August 14, 1996; he preceded her in death on August 9, 2019.
Betty worked for the City of Clinton as a meter maid for 16 years retiring in 1988. Prior to that she worked at Schick Hospital as a cook, Woolworth Department Store at the cosmetic counter and A & P Grocery Store as a meat packer. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church. She played in several bowling leagues and volunteered on the PTA and both boys and girls scouts. Betty loved being outside, she enjoyed going to garage sales and helping her son-in-law on the farm; she even had a real knack for making sound farming investments. More than anything, she loved time spent with her family.
She is survived by her four children: Terry (Linda) Mull of Wausau, Wisconsin, Robert Mull of Fruitland, Florida, Gary Mull of Clinton and Patty (Roger) Petersen of Clinton; step-daughters: Patty Ryan of Decatur, Illinois and Debra “Debbie” Hunt of Decatur, Illinois; grandchildren: Shamin (Mike) Carrington, Sha (Lorne) Misita, Aaron (Jessica) Mull, Justin (Laura) Mull, Matthew Mull and Heather (Kevin) Steines; step-grandchildren: Melissa Ryan and Samantha (Kannan) Kannan; 17 great grandchildren, one step-great grandchild and one more on the way; four great great grandchildren with one more due very soon; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three sisters: infant Ruth Charlotte, Iona Vanloo, and Virginia Weidemann and three brothers: George, Raymond and Richard Lingle.
