Bette L. Smith, 96, of Camanche, passed away, Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Alverno.
Private family services will be held at the Camanache Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Bette Loraine Nielsen was born on June 1, 1922 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter Arthur and Olga (Rasmussen) Nielsen. She was graduate of Clinton High School. She married Charles Smith on June 14, 1940 in Palmyra, Missouri; he died in 1983.
Bette was a fashion buyer at Killean Department Store for 15 years retiring in 1983. She loved the Mississippi River and reading.
She is survived by her children: Ronald Smith of Camanche, Sharon Martin of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Larry (Charlene) Smith of Camanche, Iowa 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; and her sister in law Gladys Krongard of Camanche. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister: Marjorie.
Memorials can be made to the family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff of the Alverno for the care they provided in her final days.
