Bernard King's Obituary
Bernard J. King, 92, of Clinton, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 1:30pm, Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Prince of Peace Parish St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin King, John McFadden, Jason Simmons, Brandon Simmons, Bill Conner, Dan Holden, Michael Brown, and Travis Martin. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.
Bernard John King was born on March 20, 1915 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of John and Mary (Simmert) King. He married Dorothy Jackson on March 9, 1940 in Clinton.
He was a graduate of St. Mary?s High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
He was employed with E.I. Dupont as a lab technician for 28 years.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, the Clinton Moose Lodge and the Eagles Club.
Bernard is surived by his wife: Dorothy of Clinton; one daughter: Renee Simmons of Bloomington, Illinois, two sons: Terrance (Sandra) King of Clinton, Iowa, and James (Joyce) King of Davenport, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and one brother: George King of Arizona.
Bernard is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, one granddaughter and a son-in-law.
The family request that memorials be made to the University of Iowa Ophthalmology Department.
