Arnold John Brandenburg Jr.'s Obituary
Arnold John Brandenburg, Jr., 87, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Friday at Mercy One. Private services will be held Wednesday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. John was born July 15, 1935, in Charlotte, Iowa, the son of Arnold and Katherine (Duhr) Brandenburg. He attended school in Charlotte until his junior year. His family then moved to the Elvira (or rural Clinton) area and he graduated from Elvira High School in 1953, where he made many life-long friends. John served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in 29 Palms, California. When he returned home, he met Judy Holstein, the love of his life, and they were married on December 6, 1959, in Clinton. John had a love of the land from the time he was young, and he nurtured that love as a farmer, farming the family farm until the age of 83. John wanted other people to know the joy of living in God's country, so he created a beautiful housing development on his rolling land, named Branden Hills. John also loved family time, and spent many vacations with the kids and grandkids all together. Those times will be cherished by all. When he was with family, he always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. John is survived by his son, Randy (Joanne) Brandenburg of West Dennis, MA; daughter, Dana Brandenburg Nelson of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Katherine (Mike) Quealy, Ryan (Ally) Brandenburg, Kristen Brandenburg, Sarah Nelson and great grandson, Miles Quealy. He was preceded in Death by his parents, his wife, Judy, in 2021 and his sister, Janice Ketelsen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church or the Clinton Humane Society.
