Arlyn Schmidt's Obituary
Arlyn Schmidt, 69, of Camanche, IA, died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Mercy North, Clinton after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation will be from 4PM to 8PM Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Services will be held at 10:00am Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Catholic Church of the Visitation, Camanche. Burial will be in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan, Randy and Steve Schmidt, Keith and Devin Lundin and Bryan Ringen.
Arlyn was born June 30, 1938 in Springbrook, Iowa the son of Melvin N. and Leona M. (Michel) Schmidt. He was a 1956 Preston High School graduate. He married Janet Feltes April 15, 1958 at Sacred heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa. He was a member of the National Guard from 1956 to 1962. Arlyn was employed as a millwright in the maintenance department at DuPont for more that 32 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Church of the Visitation, the Moose Lodge and AMVETS. His hobbies included fishing and in earlier years fishing trips to International Falls and Racine. He enjoyed eating breakfast with his friends and relaxing on his patio.
Survivors include his wife, Janet of Camanche; brother Darrell (Pat) Schmidt of Clinton; and nieces and nephews. His parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. On line condolences may be left by visiting www.snellzornig.com
