Arlene Jewell's Obituary
Arlene B. Jewell, 80, of Clinton, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 12:00pm, Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Serving as pallbearers will be her sons. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Arlene Beverly Nims was born on October 11, 1927 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Gladys (Grant) Nims. She married Louis Jewell on July 28, 1973 in Rock Island, Illinois. She was a 1944 graduate of Maquoketa High School. She was a cook at the Alverno Health Care Facility for many years; retiring in 1989. She was a former member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church, the TOPS Club, and enjoyed camping. She is survived by her husband: Louis of Clinton; six sons: Donald (Sandra) Shadle of Clinton; Howard (Hope) Shadle of Clinton, Dennis Shadle of Fulton, Russell (Diana) Shadle of Clinton, Ronald (Marsha) Shadle of Clinton, Jeffery (Kate) Shadle of Fulton; 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, brother: Allen (Marilyn) Nims of Mesa, Arizona, and sister: Sandra (Vernon) Vilmont of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, and one sister.
