Anthony "Tony" J. Schultz's Obituary
Tony Schultz, 84, of Camanche, passed away, Friday, April 5, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30am, Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Catholic Church of the Visitation – Camanche. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Camanche Fire Department. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.
Anthony Joseph Schultz was born on February 7, 1940 in Little Falls, Minnesota, the son of Anthony and Julia (Schipritt) Schultz. He was a 1958 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Kathleen “Kay” Atkinson on September 17, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; she passed away July 18, 2007 after traveling the world together for 47 years.
Tony was a foil mill operator at ALCOA for 38 years; retiring in 1996. He was a proud volunteer of the Camanche Fire Department. He served from 1968-1993, when he retired as captain, but still remained involved after retirement. He was a member of the Church of the Visitation where he was proud to have helped construct and remodel the church. In his free time, he could be found at the Lumberkings games, spending time at the bowling alley, attending the yearly fireman campout, cooking pancakes for his grandchildren, and watching their sporting events. Tony loved being outside in his garden and laughing with the numerous family and friends that would stop by to enjoy a beer.
Tony is survived by his two daughters: Kim Munck of Goodyear, Arizona, Deb (James) Lord of Camanche; a son: Rob (Marla) Schultz of Camanche; six grandchildren: Kristin (Logan) Riley, Mitch (Karley) Phelps, Nic (Shannon) Phelps, Kerri (Zach) Buchheit, Dawson Schultz, and Ethan Schultz; two great-granddaughters: Kendell and Lauren Riley; three sisters: Bernadine Strand of Randall, Minnesota, Betty Wiebers of Camanche, and Lorna Deering of Camanche. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson: Blake Munck; two brothers: Raymond and Fredrick, and one sister: Rosemary.
