Annie Lee Mason's Obituary
Annie Lee Mason, 78 of Clinton went home to be with her Savior after a short fight with cancer Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Mercy Living Center – North.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Church of the Open Door – Clinton. Burial will take place privately at Evergreen Cemetery Hanover on Thursday. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday evening at the church. Annie Lee McGee was born October 2, 1939 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, the daughter of James and Estelle (Sauls) McGee. She married Edmund E. Mason on October 31, 1956; he preceded her in death on December 27, 1993.
She enjoyed taking care of others and chose to do this by managing daycare facilities in New York, North Carolina and Florida while her husband served in the United States Army. She also worked as a CNA for in home health care and Nursing facilities in both Illinois and Florida. She and her late husband Edmund Mason were Foster parents for over 20 years in Florida and Illinois providing love and support for 62 foster children.
Annie was an active member of Church of the Open Door in Clinton where she served in the nursery, helped prepare funeral luncheons as a part of Manna Ministries, took part in Casserole committee, participated in Women’s Bible studies and helped facilitate Grief Share classes. Annie’s hobbies included sewing dolls and stuffed animals, reading and playing Bingo at Lyon’s Manor.
She is survived by her two children: Lisa (Jim) Machen of Clinton and Samuel (Tama) Mason of Lake Butler, Florida; five grandchildren: Caleb, Drea, Noah, Seth and Hannah; three siblings: Ervin (Gladys) McGee of Jacksonville, Florida, Nell Glisson of Jacksonville, Florida and Elizabeth “Libby” (Tom) Judson of Bladenboro, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Annie was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter Sydney Elisabeth in 1997 and three siblings.
Memorials may be made to the family or to Camp Hickory. Annie loved the camp and was always in support of children going to Christian camp.
