Alvin Phillips' Obituary
Alvin N. Phillips, 71, of Clinton, died, Friday, November 19, 2010 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. Funeral Services will be 11 am, Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lamon Phillips, James “Geno” Scott, Jashar Carr, Bergie Phillips, Barry Phillips, and Jason (Phillips) Mayes. Visitation will be from 9 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Alvin Nathaniel Phillips was born July 17, 1939 to Griffin and Lillian (Gholston) Phillips in Waverly, Tennessee. He was baptized at the True Vine Apostolic Church in Clinton. He worked for the City of Waverly, Tennessee on the trash removal truck for 25 years. Alvin is survived by 4 sisters: Louise Mayes of Clinton; Barbara (Lawrence) Luten of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Sandra (Melvyn) Walton of Rock Island, Illinois; and Audrey Phillips of Rock Island, Illinois; 4 brothers: James Phillips of Clinton; Charles Phillips (Deidre) Phillips of Moline, Illinois; Ronald Phillips of Clinton; and Barry Phillips of Rock Island, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Joyce Allen and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, and 1 brother. Memorials may be made to the family.
