Alice Nelson's Obituary
Alice S. Nelson, 95, of Clinton, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the Alverno. Funeral Services will be 10 AM Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Springdale cemetery. Alice was born July 11, 1916 in Clinton, the daughter of Peter Jensen and Anna Magdalene (Ipsen) Orte. She married Marvin D. Nelson May 21, 1941 in Clinton; he died October 19, 1997. After completing her education in the Clinton Schools, she went to work at the Garment Factory at age 19. During WWII she was a examiner for "sand flea tents" that were used in Africa. She was a trainer for dress making and then became a supervisor. She retired in 1981 after 45 years. Survivors include her very special friend, Justin (Danielle) Sampson of Camanche; Niece and caretaker, Ann (Dan) Krick of Camanche; niece Theresa Kunavich of La Crescent, MN; nephews, Bob Kunavich of Clinton, Tom (Kristi) Orte of Clinton, Phil (Daine) Orte of Stewartville, MN and several other nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters, four brothers and three nephews. Memorials can be made to the Sarah Harding Home.
