Alan A. Lorenz's Obituary
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Alan A. Lorenz, 92 of Clinton, passed away at his home, Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Interment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery.
Alan Alfred Lorenz was born in Clinton on November 24, 1931, the son of Alfred and Isabelle (Witherspoon) Lorenz. He was a 1949 graduate of Clinton High School and later graduated from Iowa State University in 1953 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Al was a professional engineer while serving in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and supporting aerospace projects to include the NASA Apollo program, and the Alaskan Pipeline for various companies.
A man who valued supporting his community, Al enjoyed mentoring kids and was active with the Clinton Rotary Club. He also loved his pets - dogs, bird & cat and enjoyed working on cars.
Al is survived by his wife: Ida of Clinton; three children, seven grandchildren, two stepchildren, and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Virginia Boka and Shirley Zaehringer.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Clinton Humane Society or Clinton Rotary Club.
