Alan Edward Gickler's Obituary
Alan Edward Gickler, 86, of Clinton passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Memorial Services will be 12:00 pm (noon), Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time at the church. Alan Edward Gickler was born on Aug. 23, 1939, in Marion, Ohio, the son of Jack Edward and Clara (Worthing) Gickler. He was a 1957 graduate of Joplin High School, where he was active in ROTC and Junior Achievement. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Alan married Gloria Gracile Pigmon on March 16, 1968, in Caruthersville, Missouri.
Alan was the Owner, CEO and President of Johnson Manufacturing Company in Princeton, Iowa. Previously, he was the Vice President of Binkley Company in Warrenton, Missouri, and Plant Manager of Jim Walters in Camanche. He volunteered his time with Gideons International, Boy Scouts, Rotary Club and Jaycees. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer. Alan enjoyed trout fishing, vanilla ice cream, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid reader and Hawkeye fan. Over their 57 years of marriage, he and Gracile enjoyed traveling all over the world together. Most notable were their trips to Mexico, China, Africa, India and Germany, as well as family trips to Jamaica.
Alan is survived by Gracile Gickler of Clinton; two children: John Jay (Sheryl) Gickler of Princeton, and Lucinda “Lucy” (Mike) Shrout of New Bloomfield, Missouri; and two grandsons: Alex Edward Gickler of Princeton and Ted Alan Shrout of New Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Benevolent Fund or Samaritan's Purse (both organizations were very dear to Alan).
