Adam Herch's Obituary
Adam G. Herch, 84, of Clinton, died Friday, March 27, 2009 at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 12:00pm at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with Military honors presented by the Clinton AMVETS POST #28. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Adam George Herch was born on August 31, 1924 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Peter and Katherin (Rosenbach) Herch. He married Phyllis Buelow on January 12, 1957 in Clinton, Iowa. Adam was a graduate of Clinton High School. He also was a veteran of the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 17th Airborne Division, 194th Gliders Infantry in World War II. He participated in the Bastogne Campaign and received two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Adam was a Journeyman Cement Mason, BAC Local 3 of Iowa Working Major Constructions. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and was an avid reader. Adam is survived by his loving wife: Phyllis of Clinton; one son: Mark (Rhea) Herch of Clinton; one daughter: LuAnn (Kelvin) Short of Clinton; four grandchildren: Wendy Hugunin, Jennifer Robb, James “Bo” Robb, Christopher Robb; six great-grandchildren; one brother: Peter (Geraldine) Herch of Clinton; two sisters: Josephine (Edward) Shannon of Clinton and Kate Mitchell of Oregon City, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews. Adam is preceded in death by his parents, and thirteen brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank the caring people at Hospice of Jackson County and Crestridge Nursing Home for their excellent care. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Jackson County or Crestridge Nursing Home.
