Aberdeene Mommsen's Obituary
Aberdeene M. Mommsen, 91, of Clinton, died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Harmony House in Clinton. Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton. Burial will take place in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The grandchildren will be serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 3:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Aberdeene Margaret Emily Sander was born April 18, 1918 in Andover, Iowa the daughter of William and Caroline (Timmermann) Sander. She married Delbert Mommsen on January 28, 1939 in Clinton; he died on July 9, 2000. Aberdeene worked at Petersen’s in the shoe department for 10 years and also helped her husband on the farm. Aberdeene was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in Naomi Circle, quilting, and in charge of the funeral luncheons for many years, and a member of the Clinton Order of the Eastern Star #65. Aberdeene is survived by one daughter: Marcia (Randall) Krogmann of Clinton; one son: Larry (Elaine) Mommsen of Bryant, Iowa; a daughter-in-law Patricia Jensen of La Cresent, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren: Michele (Dave) Meade, Mike (Vicky) Mommsen, Melanie (Paul) Raischel, Lisa (Scott) Ellison, Ann (Ed) Rognerud, Jessica (Mark) Hilgendorf, Jeff Krogmann, and Brandon Krogmann; 12 great-grandchildren, and 7 step great-grandchildren;. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Alan, one sister Lorain Butcher, and one grandson Terry Mommsen. Memorials can be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Harmony House.
