Vernard J. Reuter, 101 of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at MercyOne- Clinton. A Private Family visitation will be held and burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family. Vernard John Reuter was born on July 23, 1920 in Charlotte, Iowa, the son of Peter and Katrina (Banowetz) Reuter. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army from 1942-1945. He married Louis Clauseman on November 17, 1943 in Clinton; she died July 3, 1963, he later married Naomi Greve on June 1, 1964 in Minnehaha, South Dakota. Vernard was a firefighter for the Clinton Fire Department for 7 years, and worked at Ralph Harney and Jack Glew International Harvester Implements. He later worked for Waukesha Dresser in the experimental laboratory which was the largest and most modern in its time. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Vernard is survived by his wife: Naomi of Clinton; his children: Laird Joseph Reuter of Clinton, Janelle Marie Reuter-Frisby of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Kevin James (Maureen) Reuter of Montgomery, Alabama, Amy Elizabeth Reuter of Columbia, Missouri, and Vernard John (Sharon) Reuter, II of the Quad Cities; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; his siblings: Theresa Hanson of DeWitt, Julius Reuter of Sugar Creek, Joann (Gene) Gerardy of Bellevue, and Richard Reuter of Calamus. He was preceded in death by his first wife and 9 siblings.
