Richard "Dick" J. Themas

Richard “Dick” J. Themas, 61, of Clinton passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at his home in Clinton. Memorial Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Richard John Themas was born January 10, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Jim and Pauline (Stabryla) Themas. He was a 1979 graduate of Savanna High School. He married Gail Gilbert in 1980 and together they had four children, he later married his best friend Cheryl Bale on July 9, 1999 in Clinton, Iowa. Dick worked for Custom Pak for 34 years doing many jobs, most recently he was working as a purchasing coordinator. He loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.He was kind, genuine and a very patient Dad. He loved life to the fullest and was always being goofy and making people laugh. He had a passion for music. He loved singing and playing his guitar and music loudly. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening to the fullest. He loved mushroom hunting, camping, fishing and family cookouts. He was a skilled wood worker and took pride in rebuilding his house. Dick is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Themas of Clinton; father: Jim Themas of Thomson, Illinois; four children: Angela (Heath) Bergman, Aaron (Sandy Wurster) Themas of Savanna, Illinois, Amanda (Matthew) Smith of Thomson, Illinois, and Adriane (Nick Cunningham) Themas of Leaf River, Illinois; three step-children: Ariann Letcher of Clinton, Sylvia Escobedo of Fulton, and Raul Ruiz of Coralville, Iowa; 15 grandchildren: Owen and Mason Themas, Gabriel, Caleb and Calliope Themas-Smith, Nash Cunningham, Darian Ruiz, Xandir and Rylee Letcher, Sadie Ruiz, Arturo, Dominic, Diego and Palmoa Escobedo and Lilianna Lujan; siblings: Deborah (Joe Dean) Themas of Roseville, Illinois and Robert Themas of Sabula, Iowa; and nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother and two dogs: Rogue and Banchee. Memorials may be made to the family.
