Lola Machande

Lola M. Machande, 91, of Clinton, passed away, Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Alverno. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm, Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00-5:00pm at the funeral home. Lola Madaline Taplin was born on April 28, 1930 in rural Sabula, Iowa the daughter of Elden and Marie (Petersen) Taplin. She was a 1948 graduate of Goose Lake High School and received her teachers certificate from Mount Saint Clare College. She married Carl Machande on May 29, 1954 in Englewood, Colorado. Lola was a teacher for many years in rural schools and in Sabula. She enjoyed dancing and baking. She was also an accomplished seamstress. After retirement, they traveled extensively in and out of the US, from Alaska to Ecuador, then deciding to make New Mexico their home with trips to Iowa each summer. Lola is survived by her husband of 67 years, Carl of Clinton; her sister: Arlene Dierksen of Clinton, two brothers: Dennis (Diane) Taplin, and Gary (Cheryl) Taplin both of Bryant; a sister-in-law: Alice Machande of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Patsy Harbron, and a son James in 1974.
