David Cory Traver

May 17, 1948 - June 10, 2022

David "Cory" Traver, age 74, of Clinton, Iowa passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle for 29 years with Parkinson's disease. Funeral Services will be 10:30am Friday, June 17, 2022 at Community Reformed Church – 747 N. 12th St. – Clinton. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at Community Reformed Church. Burial will be at the Elvira Cemetery. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes is assisting the family. Cory was born on May 17, 1948 in Davenport, IA to David Stewart Traver and Marilyn (Tullberg) Traver. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1966 where he loved playing trombone in the band. He then went on to earn an AA degree from Muscatine Community College. He was also in the Army Reserves for 6 years. The opportunity came for him to go on a couple short term missionary trips to Haiti and India. He fell in love with the people of India and went back 2 more times, hoping to be a full-time missionary there to share Christ's love. Due to their governments lack of issuing visas at that time, that door closed. Cory loved the Lord and desired to share that with others. He enjoyed teaching a Bible Study in younger years and was quite involved at Grandview Baptist Church, Evangelical Free Church and the last 20+ years at Gateway Bible Chapel. He then worked at Krambeck Feed and Supply for 14 years. When Krambeck's closed, he and Dale Kenne opened up P.M.C. Agri-Sevices in Miles, Iowa. Cory was owner/manager of this feed store for 28 years. There was quite the fun coffee group that gathered there each morning. He married Debbie Griggs April 3, 1982 and they recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. At home the family project for 12 years was raising Holstein heifer calves form 3 days old to 6 months, then returning them to the dairy farmer. Cory loved people, loved to chat along with some fun and teasing. His family and friends meant so much to him. Cory will be dearly missed by his wife Debbie and 3 sons. Eric (Brittney) Traver of Nederland, Texas; James (Charissa) Traver of Albany, IL; Jeff (Gretchen) Traver of Brownsburg, IN. Six grandchildren: Jayden, Nora, Eden, Theodore, Lucas and Elijah. One brother Barry (Lorene) Traver of Davenport, IA. Cory was preceded in death by his parents. Besides great support from family and friends, a very special thank you to MercyOne Hospice and the Good Samaritan Society for their help and care for Cory.
