Craig A. Vidal, 34, of Tipton formerly of Clinton passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the Mayo Clinic – Rochester, Minnesota after a courageous 2.5 year battle with Stage IV colon cancer. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Prince of Peace Parish with his uncle, Father Richard Florek OFM Conv., presiding. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Casket bearers will be Eric, Keith, Nicholas, and Julius Vidal, Kjell Hedström and Jeffrey Wiess. Craig Allen Vidal was born on April 13, 1988 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Dr. Ronald and Marianne (Florek) Vidal. He was a 2007 graduate of Clinton High School. He graduated with a Biomedical Engineering degree with distinction from the University of Iowa in 2012 and also received the Technical Entrepreneurship Certificate. Following graduation, he worked at Vida Diagnostics until 2016. Then, he enrolled in dental school at The University of Iowa where he was one of two people accepted into the Hospital Dentistry- General Practice Residency following graduation. He was in his final semester when he was diagnosed. Craig married his high school sweetheart, Corissa Creeley, on November 26, 2011 in Clinton. They have six beautiful children together that kept him strong throughout his battle. He loved spending time with his children and being a dad. He enjoyed hanging out with his family and calling his mom daily. Craig was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed playing, betting, and watching sports, especially the Buffalo Bills (his favorite player was Josh Allen). He was a strong motivator to anyone around him especially to his brothers. Craig always gave 100% in everything he did with a never give up mentality. He was a fighter who never complained and tried to get the most out of life with his family. He always went for what he wanted in life and never took anything for granted. Craig is survived by his wife: Corissa of Tipton; his children: Julius, Angelo, Marianna, Vienna, Bryella, and Celia; his parents: Dr. Ronald and Marianne Vidal of Clinton; his siblings: Jeanine (Kjell) Hedström of Missoula, Montana, Dr. Corina Vidal of Boston, Massachusetts, Eric Vidal of Missoula, Montana, Keith Vidal of Iowa City, Iowa, Nicholas Vidal of Clinton, Iowa, and Rubina Vidal of New York City, New York; his many nieces and nephews; his paternal grandfather: Al Vidal of Staten Island, New York; his mother and father-in-law: Gayla and Scott Creeley of Clinton, Iowa and sibling-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his brother: Brian; his infant sister: Terresa; his maternal grandparents: Walter and Genevieve Florek; paternal grandmother: Florence Vidal and a special uncle: William Wiess. Craig’s family would like to extend their thanks to all of Craig’s medical team where he has received care over the course of his illness; Physician’s Clinic of Iowa, Mayo Clinic, University of Iowa, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Weill Cornell Medical, and Unity Point Palliative Care. A special thanks to Dr. Pashtoon Kasi, who gave Craig the best personalized care one could receive.
