Betty Mae Stuedemann

November 15, 1931 - April 27, 2021

Betty Mae Stuedemann, 89, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Country House Residence in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. A visitation will take place from 10:00 - 12:00 on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Snell-Zornig Funeral Home in Clinton, with a private family service to immediately follow. Betty will be privately buried in Dow City, Iowa. Betty was born November 15, 1931 in the family farmhouse between Dow City and Arion, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Lila (Lee) Kepford. Betty worked for more than 20 years in the office for Interstate Power Company in Clinton. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Betty touched the lives of everyone she met. She was an avid collector of many things - from Beanie Babies to coins, to geodes (Iowa’s state rock!) to Coca-Cola (which she also loved to drink). Betty was a near-pro bowler. She loved hanging-out with the Interstate Power retiree “angels,” crocheting, chocolate milk shakes, beating her feet on the Mississippi mud, and she also had great luck entering sweepstakes and “winning” at nickel slot machines at the riverboat. She invented an annual contest (with her sons) of who would see the first robin of the season. Betty lived in many places in Iowa, but also had short stints in Morocco Africa and Death Valley, California. But above all, she loved her family, and her family loved her and will miss her. Betty married James Weed, Sr. in 1950 and Earl Stuedemann in 1978. Betty is survived by her children: James Weed Jr. (Amy Kern) of Faribault, Minnesota, Michael Weed (Dana) of Chicago, Illinois and Raymond (Evelyn) Stuedemann of Clinton; grandchildren: Lisa, Lana, Leslie, Jenny, Katie, Nick, Larissa, Samm, Olivia and Heath; and even more great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, three brothers, a son and great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association or Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton. Online condolences may be expressed at snellzornig.com.
