Arnold E. Outzen

August 18, 1927 - January 24, 2022

Arnold E. Outzen, 94, of Clinton passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at The Alverno – Clinton. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, February 1, 2022 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Clinton. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery following services. Serving as pallbearers will be Arnold’s sons. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com. Arnold Eugene Outzen was born August 18, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of George an Ella Mae (Juber) Outzen. He was a 1945 graduate of Clinton High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy while still in high school and left for the service 3 weeks after graduation. He served in active duty for one year and then in the reserves for an additional 5 years. He married Patricia Sazma on May 27, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa. Arnie worked as a machine operator at DuPont for 46 years; retiring in 1993. He was a long time parishioner of St. Mary’s and then Prince of Peace when it opened. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity building 11 homes in Clinton and delivered for Meals on Wheels for many years. He enjoyed hometown baseball, gardening and spending time with his family. He was an alumni of the Citizens Police Academy for 20 years. He was a self-made carpenter and enjoyed building furniture and working with his wife to build their home from the ground up, board by board. Arnold is survived by his wife Patricia of Clinton; children: Barbara “Karen” (Jeff) Ross of Adair, Oregon, Michael Outzen of Clinton, Mark (Pam) Outzen of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Patricia (Craig) Bieber of Muscatine, Paul (Mary) Outzen of Clinton, John (Lynne) Outzen of LeClaire, Iowa, Phillip (Kathleen) Outzen of Decatur, Illinois and Robert (Lisa) Outzen of Fulton; 22 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother Lloyd Outzen of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Suzanne Outzen, two sisters, Hazel Lutz and Dorothy Kehl, one brother Charles Outzen, and daughter in law Teresa Outzen. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sisters of St. Frances, Habitat for Humanity or a charity of your choice.
